Our Cattle
Our herd of registered black,
polled Limousin cattle at Begert Ranch is the result of over 30 years' worth of
careful selection, breeding, study, and experience with the breed. We run roughly five
hundred cows on the ranch, and we understand implicitly that no one breeder can be all
things to all people.

Our herd does, however, represent an
impressive balance of price, genetic quality, gentle disposition, reliability, and value
for our customers. Combined with the legendary profitability and production qualities of
the Limousin breed, we can meet the needs of most producers who are serious about
improving the quality of their herd at a fair price.
We raise our animals without
hormones or growth implants, and provide the minimum preventive medication required for
raising healthy animals.

Our bulls are characterized by a
large scrotal, which we believe correlates well to a gentle disposition. Homozygous black
and homozygous polled let you know exactly what you're getting when you buy a Begert
Limousin.
Our herd philosophy is simple: we go
for breadth and depth. Our mother cows are dependable producers who deliver predictable
traits in their calves--feminine in front, they produce calves that birth easily. Their
medium-sized udders, another very heritable trait, provide excellent nutrition for their
offspring.

Our cows are also impressive
mothers. They take wonderful care of their calves, produce milk abundantly, and exhibit
the gentle disposition that our herd is known for.
Whether you're looking for a single
animal to feed and market, or whether you're searching for just the right combination of
genetics in order to improve the quality of your herd, we offer a broad selection of
animals to fit your needs.
