About Our Ranch
When we talk about cattle, we
talk first about the land. Our herd at Begert Ranch of registered black, polled Limousin
cattle are raised on 10,000 acres of what we believe is some of the best ranchland in
these United States.

The lush Washita River
cuts through our ranch, and our location in the Canadian River watershed means that rich
and abundant native forage keep our cattle big, strong, and healthy. Little bluestem and a
variety of forbs provide natural nourishment that is abetted by pure well water from the
Ogalalla aquifer.
Our ranch's climate is gentle, just
like our cattle. Summers are hot but not scorching, winters are cold but pleasant. Spring
and fall usher in beauty pageants of wildflowers, golden cottonwoods, and brilliantly red
shiny sumac.
The combination of good weather,
gentle climate, and excellent forage tell part of our ranch story. The other part is the
way we manage it. Our family has been on this ranch for four generations now, and we
learned long ago that if you support and nurture the land, then it will do the same for
you.

We follow careful grazing rotation
patterns, and adjust our activities according to what the land will bear--something that
varies on a yearly basis. We don't like to brag, but we don't like to cover up a good
thing, either: our land management practices mean that our ranch is one of the few places
left on earth that still sustains healthy populations of Lesser Prairie-Chickens.
The variety of wildlife and plants
on our ranch, and the healthy vigor of our cattle testify to the bounty and beauty of our
little corner of the Texas Panhandle. Our door's always open--stop by and see for
yourself.
