Why Limousin?
We sell registered Limousin
cattle at Begert Ranch because we're sold on Limousin cattle. And have
been for over thirty years.
Every breed of cow has its good
points and its soft spots. We believe that, on balance, no breed is as competitive on
price, quality, disposition, profitability, and production value as the Limousin.
In short, Limousin are a fantastic
investment. They are long-lived and they provide excellent value from the duration of
their reproductive years all the way through salvage. Limousin have benefited from careful
breeding and culling over the years. They are gentle cattle, and have low birth weights
that are accompanied by very fast weight gain.

The muscle and leanness of Limousin
cattle play a big role in the value of the breed at today's fat-conscious meat counter.
Limousin is one of the few breeds that offers lean beef with zero compromise in taste.
If you raise cattle, the efficiency,
yield, and profit of your animals drive your bottom line. Limousin cattle are superlative
performers in all three categories. Most producers experienced with the breed will agree
that it is second to none.
Limousin cattle put money in your
pocket at every turn in the production cycle. Well known for their birthing ease, the
breed greatly reduces the resources that producers have to spend on difficult deliveries.

Weight gain characteristics of
Limousin cattle are impressive. Size per age values for Limousin make them especially
attractive as compared to other breeds. In the same vein, the Limousin is unparalleled in
trimming fat off a carcass in one cross.
Of equal importance is the
Limousin's adaptability to market trends. Producers who have stayed with Limousin over the
years have noted that no matter what the market does, Limousin cattle remain highly
profitable and unmatched in efficiency because sound, functional cattle always trump
short-term fads.
Well-balanced, deep-bodied, with a
great top, super hip, and the classic "Limousin rear end," the breed injects
profitability across a spectrum of production issues: muscle, ease of calving, feeding
efficiency, yield, weight gain, and great mothering ability all work to lower cost and
increase profits.
More than any other breed, however,
the success of Limousin cattle production is driven by the Limousin "community."
Limousin producers cooperate with each other and work using the ethic "all for one,
one for all." Sharing ideas, information, experience, tips, successes, and failures
is all part of joining the Limousin family. Support, networking, and working collectively
to get the job done creates an environment that breed more than great cattle: it breeds
success as well.
